How to use this test

  1. 01

    Clean the screen gently and let it reach its normal operating temperature.

  2. 02

    Set browser zoom to 100% and use the brightness and picture mode you normally use.

  3. 03

    Start fullscreen mode. Use arrow keys, Space, click or touch to change patterns.

  4. 04

    Observe from your normal position first, then move closer only to inspect a detail.

  • Clouding, glow or uneven dark areas

INTERPRET

How to read the result

OLED pixels should switch off on a true-black signal. LCD panels still use a backlight, so some glow can be normal and changes with viewing angle and brightness.

LIMITS

Limits of a browser test

Room light, camera exposure, local dimming and browser or operating-system processing can change what you perceive. This is an observation tool, not a laboratory measurement.

Frequently asked questions

01Is this black exactly #000000?

Yes. The test surface is set directly to rgb(0, 0, 0), without opacity, filters, images, borders or gradients.

02Can this fix a stuck pixel?

No. It only helps you see irregularities. ScreenProbe never claims to repair pixels or panel damage.

03Why does black still glow on my LCD?

LCD pixels modulate a separate backlight. Some light leakage, IPS glow or local-dimming blooming can remain visible, especially in a dark room.
