How to use this test

Clean the screen gently and let it reach its normal operating temperature.

Set browser zoom to 100% and use the brightness and picture mode you normally use.

Start fullscreen mode. Use arrow keys, Space, click or touch to change patterns.

How to read the result

Banding can originate in the panel, an 8-bit signal, missing dithering, image processing or a limited-range connection. Compare apps and inputs before blaming the display.

LIMITS

Limits of a browser test

Browsers, HDR, the operating system, GPU, cable and monitor processing all influence gradients. A web test cannot isolate every link in that chain.

Frequently asked questions

01Does visible banding mean my panel is faulty?

Not necessarily. It may come from colour depth, compression, GPU output, a display preset or the browser pipeline.

02What is the difference between 8-bit and 10-bit?

A 10-bit pipeline can represent more tonal levels. Dithering can make an 8-bit output look smoother, while processing or compression can still create bands.
