INTERPRET

How to read the result

Missing dark steps can indicate black crush; merged bright steps can indicate white clipping. A repeated tint may come from the display mode, viewing angle or panel uniformity.

LIMITS

Limits of a browser test

Browser colour management, ICC profiles, HDR tone mapping and GPU output levels affect the result. Use a hardware colorimeter for calibration.

01Should every near-black patch be visible?

Not always in normal room light. Let your eyes adapt and use the display’s intended black level before changing settings.

02Why does gray look coloured?
