How to use this test

  1. 01

    Clean the screen gently and let it reach its normal operating temperature.

  2. 02

    Set browser zoom to 100% and use the brightness and picture mode you normally use.

  3. 03

    Start fullscreen mode. Use arrow keys, Space, click or touch to change patterns.

  4. 04

    Observe from your normal position first, then move closer only to inspect a detail.

  • Black points on white, red, green or blue fields
  • Bright points that remain visible on black
  • Pixels whose colour does not change with the rest of the panel

INTERPRET

How to read the result

A permanently dark pixel may be dead; a coloured pixel may have a stuck subpixel. First clean the surface carefully and repeat the check at normal viewing distance.

Limits of a browser test

Dust, reflections, scaling and protective films can resemble pixel defects. Warranty definitions and acceptable pixel counts vary by manufacturer.

01What is the difference between a dead and stuck pixel?

A dead pixel generally stays dark. A stuck subpixel often remains red, green, blue or bright against several backgrounds.

02Should I test at maximum brightness?

Start at your normal brightness, then repeat at a higher setting if needed. Avoid leaving bright static colours on OLED panels longer than necessary.
